PETER TRUNKFIELD CUP

Peter Trunkfield is a legend in Buckinghamshire rugby. He fulfilled every position within County including Chairman and President, becoming the County’s RFU representative to the RFU Council where he served with distinction becoming President of the RFU in 1998/9.

He was a stalwart of the Marlow club, fulfilling almost every role including President and such was his status within Buckinghamshire that was an honorary member of a number of county clubs.

Peter loved his rugby and was a friend to every club in the County. Following his untimely death in 2010 County decided to put up a cup in his honour that would be presented annually to the club in Buckinghamshire that most represented Peter’s rugby ethos; fair play, fun and a pride in the game that encouraged its spirit and maintained its values.

It was agreed that The Trunkfield Cup would be in the gift of the County President, whose role entails visiting all the County Clubs during their term, so is in the best position to ascertain the suitability of the club to which the trophy is awarded.
